Light bulbs, Chandeliers, Ceiling Fans….

Taking a tour of the upstairs (video to come hopefully) we have been trying to nail down what type of lighting we want in the hallway, bedrooms, laundry room, etc.  Do we go with the inexpensive and upgrade later or do we spend the extra time browsing now and get what we love?

Each bedroom will have a ceiling fan – this will help with temperature control; circulating the warm or cold air so that we do not have to use our furnace or air conditioner as much, thus saving us a little mulla…..hopefully.

Fans, however, are sometimes hard to incorporate into a room; rather than adding to the design it could actually take away from it and make the room look dated. With that in mind, we are cautiously moving forward.

Just glancing through Home Depot, here are a couple of fixtures that caught my attention:

  • This is a cute one for JBear’s room and goes well with the glow in the dark star ceiling we showed on the moodboard.
  • For the spare room we wanted to stick with the zen/nature feel.  The room is also  the smallest of the three bedrooms so we don’t want to go with a huge fan that is overpowering.
  • The master bedroom will be white with an antique tin (grey) wall so we could go with a darker more modern looking fan.
  • The laundry room won’t have a fan so we can play with the ceiling light. I thought this looked a little quirky (sold at Lowes) or perhaps I may even attempt a medium diy clothes-pin chandelier.  You will just have to stay tuned and find out. 😀
