Hummus Anyone?

Let’s talk hummus. The name itself sounds so fancy, so exotic. In reality, it is basically chickpeas, garlic, and spices. And in my opinion, it is so DELISH!!

Ever since my friend Julie got me hooked on hummus, that is all I think about when I want to snack on something.

A couple of cloves of garlic, a can of chickpeas…..how hard could it be to make home-made hummus? Challenge????

ACCEPTED!

I found this recipe on Simple Recipes.

Here is what you’ll need:

  • 2 garlic cloves, mashed and then minced
  • 2 15-oz cans of garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained and rinsed
  • 2/3 cup of tahini
  • 1/3 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

Here is the fun and super easy part.

In a food processor, combine the garlic, garbanzo beans, tahini, lemon juice, 1/2 cup water, and olive oil.

I mixed the water, oil and lemon juice in a bowl and added the mixture to the food processor.

Process until smooth. Add salt, starting at a half a teaspoon, to taste.

 And voila – homemade hummus.

This recipe makes about 3 cups.

Serve with crackers, pretzels, or as a raw dip for vegetables such as carrots, celery, or cucumbers. The best part is that it is super easy, quick and healthy…..oh and did I mention DELISH!!!

Enjoy!

P.S – stay tuned for some funnies to get us over the hump!
