Run For Your Life!

Today I was planning on doing an unveiling however due to some yellow jacket wasps (oh yes there is a huge side story here) we need to delay the unveiling for one day.  So while we wrap up some loose ends and ice some wasp stings, let me take this moment to divert your attention and tell you all about a little race I’m definitely going to do next year.

I have watched this video about 100 times and I am beyond stoked to do this. Have I ever run in a race/marathon/etc? Nope. So what the heck am I thinking right?

There are so many reasons I love the concept behind this 5k. First I am a HUGE fan of The Walking Dead.

This 5k isn’t a timed race but more a way to test your endurance as you run, climb, crawl, duck, dodge, and dive to get through this course without getting “infected”.  

Zombies Ahead!!!

If this doesn’t motivate me to get off my butt and train, I’m not sure what will. LOL. 

For all of you who are thinking of training for the Zombie Run in 2014, there is basically one rule when trying to out run zombies.

Run like you're training for the Zombie Apocalypse.

Oh and of course, you can’t forget to put some effort into your wardrobe after all, it is the apocalypse.  These socks would be perfect for such a run.

Maybe these socks are too much for regular crossfit training ;) but maybe the zombie run! :D

Here are some questions for all of you:

Tone It Up Tuesday – Planking

Do you love it or hate it? Either way, there is no denying that Planking is a valuable exercise in toning.

Each time I attempt to plank, one question (and a lot of cursing) goes through my mind…WHY MUST I PLANK?!

This diagram below is the best illustration I’ve seen to date which shows exactly what muscles are toned by Planking. And now that I answered the question “why do I have to Plank”, I can devote my full attention to my cursing as I Plank. 😉

And, of course, there is a right way and wrong way to Plank. The goal here is to increase the amount of torture you’re in (just kidding but not really) while toning your core muscles, shoulders, glutes, etc.

Apparently, I have mastered the incorrect way to plank and now have to start over and do it correctly.

Let me tell you, when doing the plank correctly, you can really feel each and every one of those muscles being used; and you’ll feel those muscles for days! 😉

All joking aside, Planking works. It’s not easy and may suck while you’re doing it but it works. 

A good way to remember if you are doing it right or wrong is as follows….if it’s easy then it’s wrong. If you feel the burn than it’s right. 🙂

So I have decided to boycott my scale. From now on I am going to monitor my success based on how well my clothes fit not the number on the scale.
