Tone It Up Tuesday: The Blasted Treadmill

Treadmills. Love them or hate them?

I have a love/hate/hope thing going on with mine. I love the fact that it helps me lose weight. I hate that I look like I am about to get on a wild bull in a rodeo every time I step on the dang thing. And I hope that one day we can be friends. Who am I kidding – I hope that one day I can kick its butt. 😉

So, I have set some goals. Because without goals, what do we have to shoot for?

I’ve read so much about how good it feels to run, how it is a great way to get rid of stress and so on. So here’s my goal: by the end of the summer, I want to be able to run for 30 minutes without stopping.

Some of you may be thinking that’s nothing, but to be honest, I can barely run a full 2 minutes right now. I know  – it’s horrible! I’m out of shape but not for long.

For you to achieve your goal, you must have a plan. After doing a little “research” and a lot of pinning, I found this little ditty on Pinterest.

I’m not sure if I can run at 5.0 but I am definitely going to give it a try.

My friends from fitnesscrEATures had this interval workout on their site this morning. This should give you an indication of how fit these girls are. Definitely check out their blog if you haven’t – not only are they fit but they are super funny as well.

Roll call time – how has everyone been doing and what has everyone been doing. Let’s keep this momentum going. If you’re like me and you  stumble on and off the fitness path, DON’T GIVE UP!

Tone Up Tuesday: Playground

Source

That’s right,we are toning it up on the playground. Last night I was determined to get a workout in. I decided to kick off the evening with some dance moves in the kitchen as I jammed to some tunage and made dinner. Hey, you do what you have to do to get moving. 😉

After dinner, I had two options, spend some quality time playing with my little man before he had to go to bed or working out. Hmmm – why not combine the two. As my father would say, all you need is a little imagination.

We walked to the playground and actually ran from slide, to swing, to teeter-totter and so on. I attempted to do chin ups on the bars (attempted being the key word).  And they also had this rope ladder that was so unstable that I could feel my core muscles working to keep me straight.

A two-hour “work  out” flew by and felt like I was just playing. Simply put, it was AWESOME! Rather than just walk home, little man and I decided to skip; that got my heart racing and my little one to giggle at his mamma skipping beside him. 🙂

When we got home I did a little research and found that there are so many exercises you can do at the park. And some of these are pretty hardcore.

Oh yeah – we’re going to step this up a notch.

Now it is your turn. What did you do to get up and moving? Are you staying on track, eating better? Pipe up and BE HONEST! 🙂

Tone It Up Tuesday: No Weights Needed

 Source

What is your excuse? What is stopping you from starting to work out? You name it, I have used it.

  • I’m too tired
  • Gyms are too expensive to join
  • I have no weights/equipment
  • I have “bad” knees

I am the queen of procrastination. I fully admit it. Now that I acknowledge that, I have to decide if my desire to get healthy outweighs my excuses to sit on my butt? The answer is a HUGE HELL YEAH!

No equipment, gym is too expensive….no worries, I have found exercises you can do at home that only require your will to succeed.  I can feel the love already. 😉
