One Year Ago

One year ago today, this little blog was started in true Gemini fashion. My friend, Julie, said “you should start your own blog” and so I spent more time pondering what our name would be than I did researching what exactly a blog entailed and so Our  Life In Action was born. 🙂

My first post was short, sweet and to the point.

Lately it seems as though I am dabbling in a little of everything and accomplishing nothing. Our entire home is a work in progress and currently it feels like it is more a work in chaos then progress.  Ahh well…watcha gonna do?  As my sister would say….you need a list! And so the lists begin.

Much to my surprise, I got hooked and am still typing away one year later. Seriously guys, this is a big feat for me. 😉 I usually get bored and am on to the next project/craft/idea within a couple of weeks. But this is different, I love every second of it.

So from now until the end of the month, I am going to celebrate this blog’s one year anniversary. I’m thinking of a give-away, maybe pulling back the curtain so to speak and letting you all into my little world, more DIY (of course) and all the silly goodness that this blog has to offer. So what do you want to know about me? Do you want a house tour? How about a getting to know the family a little better? Maybe a vlog session to give you a sneak peek at a typical day at Our Life In Action. How about blog stuff like what have I learnt? What would I do different? What would I do the same? Ask away people and I’ll answerer. 🙂

Thank you to everyone who stops by, reads, comments, and giggles at my shenanigans. Without you, I’m not sure I would be celebrating this blogiversary.

I Always Feel Like….

Somebody’s watching me….

Before I get to the Friday funnies, I wanted to give you all a sneak peek into some of the happenings going on around the OLinA household.

It felt like it went from snow to summer in one day, but I am not complaining. 🙂 Our beautiful flowering pear trees our filled with blooms….

and honey bees….

Every year, we plant a garden at my mom’s in Canada and this year we decided to also planting one in New York. I did the hard part, go out and buy the seeds. My hubby got the fun part and got to plant them in little cups, old egg cartons, basically anything we could recycle.  Disclaimer: my husband may disagree on which part was fun and which was hard. 😉

Next we did some yard work…

Oh yeah – we have big plans. This summer will be jam-packed with happenings North and South of the border so definitely stay tuned. 🙂

Easter Egg Fun

This year, we are planning a huge….HUGE Easter egg hunt at my mom’s. Mixed into that will be my mom’s legendary Easter dinner followed by a Wii Dance Revolution competition, some more birthday cake from my sister (and you thought I was joking about the whole birthday week celebration…nope, I wasn’t), and I am sure a variety of silly shenanigans that I will just have to blog about next week. 😉

However before we even get to my mom’s we still have a lot of prep work to get done. Last night I made up a batch of super-busy-mom cookies. 😉 My camera battery went dead before I could load the pictures onto my computer so that post will have to wait until tomorrow. In the meantime here is a sneak peek:

Tonight we will be painting Easter eggs. There will be the traditional dyed eggs, similar to these:

And maybe some more extravagant, some may even say super Easter eggs that is more my little man’s speed:

How cool are those?! I may be more excited to paint these than JBear.

Why stop there? I saw this jelloy egg goodness on Pinterest and thought ‘why not?’.

And last but not least, I need to make something for JBear to take to school and share with his friends. He is such a sweet kid, and every time any holiday rolls around he just loves to bring in goodies for the class. So I am torn between these two ideas (toys or treats).

What are you planning on doing for Easter? Any fun egg decorating ideas you thinking of trying?
