How Do You Decorate?

We are quickly approaching the holiday gauntlet. For me this is how it goes…

  • Canadian Thanksgiving
  • Halloween
  • American Thanksgiving
  • Christmas
  • New Years

Sounds like fun right? Bonus…two Thanksgivings means two turkeys means double the YUMMY!!!!!. Take a moment to really soak in all that goodness.

Hmmm... my motto for this year? :)

So here is my dilemma (every year). Just perusing that list, I often struggle with how to decorate. I want the pretty fall leaves with the spookiness of Halloween and the pilgrims representing Thanksgiving. Sounds easy right….WRONG! LOL! This is where Pinterest saves the day. Look at all these cute ideas that my just blend and work well together.

Halloween Party Decorations ..how cute!

Here is such a cute idea for pumpkins that can tie to Halloween. Fall, and Thanksgiving.

Pumpkins carved with a drill!

To be honest, I am slightly exhausted just thinking about it. But as the saying goes…”no rest for the wicked”…time to get my game face on and get this butt in gear. Speaking of game face…HOW AWESOME IS THIS LOOK??!!!

Weekend Roundup

The Crazy Clean Challenge wrapped up this weekend and now is time to deliver the goods. I am not sure how many of you were cleaning and organizing these past couple of days, but I must confess I was a crazy clean machine!

The weekend started out with some Thanksgiving arts and crafts.

You may or may not have noticed the ‘dirt’ around his mouth – that is the reminisce of a peanut butter and nutella sandwich. Ahh the good life. 😀

Back to the crazy cleaning. You may remember how our hallway used to look after round one of cleaning.

Tackling my little JBear’s room got it to look like this…..

All that work and it was back to crazy….no this would not do. So, once again, I tackled the hallway. Empty boxes were broken down and taken out to the recycling, tools were put away, ladders folded up, and the carpet vacuumed. I found that if I got rid of garbage, recycling, etc. rather than move them from one room to another I actually accomplished a lot more. I know….shocker! 😉

As for the end result, I think it was a big hit.

You may notice that tiny little tree in the corner. I thought that would be super cute in JBear’s room but he put the kibosh to that. My little man has a great eye because I think it looks a lot better out here. Now for the pièce de résistance … let’s light that baby up.

Next was my make-up table, or lack thereof. Here is a sneak peak but I’ll save all that fun for another post.

Now, since this is a Monday and going back to work after a long weekend is never fun…..okay let’s face it, it can be downright torture. If there was ever a time for motivational quotes, I believe it would be today.

Giving Thanks

As everyone preps their turkeys and bakes their pies over here in the U.S. I would like to take a moment and share what I am thankful for. I promise I will try not to get too sappy. 🙂

I am thankful beyond words for my family. I know that no matter what happens in my life, I can always go to them for encouragement and strength. They are also the quirkiest bunch and I love them for that!

I am thankful for my husband who puts up with my stream of consciousness babbling. He is my anchor that keeps me grounded.

I am thankful for my baby boy, he is my pillar of strength. When I lost my father and thought I couldn’t move forward, I looked at him and knew there is no other option. He keeps me laughing and reminds me of what my father and mother taught me: Look at things differently and when someone tells you that it can’t be done that way, you ask ‘why not?’.

I am thankful for my friend Julie who got me hooked on blogging and is always willing to try crazy diets and detox’s with me, all in the name of friendship. She is truly my kindred spirit and a great friend.

And of course, I am thankful for all of you who take the time to read my blog. It is because of you that I love doing what I do and am now officially a blog-aholic. Which brings me to this milestone moment……..

And finally, I am thankful that I realize how truly blessed I am.

What are you thankful for?
