It’s Almost Here

Just a few more days and it’s Halloween. The house is decorated, costumes are hanging in the closet, candy is patiently waiting for little ones to knock on the door and yell ‘TRICK or TREAT’; there is not much more to do but wait for the big day. And then it hits me….create a new tradition; Halloween breakfast. So I scoured Pinterest in hopes of finding the perfect Halloween breakfast.

Halloween Breakfast!

This is cute but not very healthy. Let’s keep looking and see what alternatives we find.

Boiled egg eyeballs…..this is pretty cool but to be honest I am not sure I could eat these because they would feel too much like an eyeball. LOL.

Boiled Egg Eyeballs - Halloween Breakfast?

This looks so yummy, using a strawberry jam or something like that for the blooooood.

I was also thinking of blending up some spinach and mixing it in with scrambled eggs so they would turn green.  Then you could put ketchup on them (my kiddo loves ketchup on his scrambled eggs) or salsa and there you have it…frankenstein eggs with a side of blllooood.

Or you can cut out different shapes (ghost, witches hat, etc,) in slices of bread and make french toast (or pane carrozza as my mom and dad call it). You can also cut out  these shapes and make sppooky little sandwiches for the kiddos lunch. Okay, so it may seem a little corny but I love it!!! Why not keep the fun going? 😉

Just when I think the fun and excitement of Halloween is drawing to an end, I see these. Yep, I am stoked!!! Can’t wait to make these for my little man…..and myself if I am going to be totally honest. 😉

Oh and I tried yet another vlog. It’s funny the looks you get when you walk down the street or in a store and you are vlogging. Oh well, I am doing it for your viewing enjoyment so it’s all worth it. 🙂

How Do You Decorate?

Fall

We are quickly approaching the holiday gauntlet. For me this is how it goes…

  • Canadian Thanksgiving
  • Halloween
  • American Thanksgiving
  • Christmas
  • New Years

Sounds like fun right? Bonus…two Thanksgivings means two turkeys means double the YUMMY!!!!!. Take a moment to really soak in all that goodness.

Hmmm... my motto for this year? :)

So here is my dilemma (every year). Just perusing that list, I often struggle with how to decorate. I want the pretty fall leaves with the spookiness of Halloween and the pilgrims representing Thanksgiving. Sounds easy right….WRONG! LOL! This is where Pinterest saves the day. Look at all these cute ideas that my just blend and work well together.

Here is such a cute idea for pumpkins that can tie to Halloween. Fall, and Thanksgiving.

Pumpkins carved with a drill!

To be honest, I am slightly exhausted just thinking about it. But as the saying goes…”no rest for the wicked”…time to get my game face on and get this butt in gear. Speaking of game face…HOW AWESOME IS THIS LOOK??!!!

DAMN! I LOVE HALLOWEEN!

Three, Four, Five Little Mice

As we creep into October, the Halloween bonanza continues. Witches hats are placed with care throughout our home, along with singing skeletons, swinging witches, spooky pumpkins and mice. Mice? You ask. Yes, I said mice.

As I perused through ideas on how to decorate my front porch I stumbled upon this picture:

Notice the mice on the step – how cute is that, and how easy to turn into a DIY project.

I started by going online and searched Bing for images of mice cutouts.

After some dinner with my little man, out came the scissors and it was arts and crafts time. My thought was to cut out each mouse and laminate it so it is protected from the elements.

This is a great project for your little one to help with; I printed off an extra sheet of mice and let him join in the fun.

After cutting out each picture, I laminated the mice using a Scotch Laminating Sheet.

And then cut them out, again….talk about tedious. 😉

Since it was too dark out to put them on the porch steps and take a picture we tested these out on our stairs. The looked good, and bonus, it was a new and fun thing for JBear to play with. He kept moving those mice from step to step and I just kept snapping pictures.

The next day, we moved these little critters to the front porch to see how they looked outdoors.

What would I do differently?

As you can see I didn’t cut out the area between the tail and the body. Seeing this every time I walk up the steps will drive me nutso so I believe that I will redo this little project and remove that portion. Until then, I will leave you with a lesson learnt….do it right the first time so you don’t have to go back and do it again. 🙂
