Six-Week Goals

Lately, I’ve gotten hooked on Jillian Michaels and in particular her Losin It television shows.

I love the motivation, the change emotionally and physically, the advice….pretty much everything in these shows. But one thing that stands out the most is how she can push these families to make HUGE changes in just six weeks.  When they say “I’m trying” she says that is setting yourself up for failure…don’t try, just do.

It's never a question of can you, but will you?

I can only speak for myself, but I know that I often underestimate what I can accomplish. I am the perpetual ‘planner’ with no follow through…..wow that really sucks admitting it.

I didn't make it to the gym today. That makes 5 years in a row.

So this is how I am going to change it. I am going to set some goals that I want to achieve in six weeks. After the six weeks, I will follow-up with you guys.

Here are my six-week goals

  • Create and stick to an exercise schedule
  • Develop a family budget
  • Get organized
  • Take my blog to the next level

I know that achieving my six-week goals won’t be a finish line, but more like a the beginning of a new me. There are so many more goals I want to add but this will do for the first six weeks.

The past does not define you, the present does.

I’ll take you guys along on my journey and am now throwing this out to you. Do you have six-week goals you want to set and share?

You are stronger than you think!

To kick this journey off…..

For every like this gets I will do one pushup

And so you know I actually did them, I will vlog it and post it to my blog. 😀

Weekend Roundup

The Crazy Clean Challenge wrapped up this weekend and now is time to deliver the goods. I am not sure how many of you were cleaning and organizing these past couple of days, but I must confess I was a crazy clean machine!

The weekend started out with some Thanksgiving arts and crafts.

You may or may not have noticed the ‘dirt’ around his mouth – that is the reminisce of a peanut butter and nutella sandwich. Ahh the good life. 😀

Back to the crazy cleaning. You may remember how our hallway used to look after round one of cleaning.

Tackling my little JBear’s room got it to look like this…..

All that work and it was back to crazy….no this would not do. So, once again, I tackled the hallway. Empty boxes were broken down and taken out to the recycling, tools were put away, ladders folded up, and the carpet vacuumed. I found that if I got rid of garbage, recycling, etc. rather than move them from one room to another I actually accomplished a lot more. I know….shocker! 😉

As for the end result, I think it was a big hit.

You may notice that tiny little tree in the corner. I thought that would be super cute in JBear’s room but he put the kibosh to that. My little man has a great eye because I think it looks a lot better out here. Now for the pièce de résistance … let’s light that baby up.

Next was my make-up table, or lack thereof. Here is a sneak peak but I’ll save all that fun for another post.

Now, since this is a Monday and going back to work after a long weekend is never fun…..okay let’s face it, it can be downright torture. If there was ever a time for motivational quotes, I believe it would be today.

Morning Puttering

What do you do when you wake up bright and early? I mean it is so early that it is still dark out, everyone is sound asleep in their beds and you have a moment of peace and quiet.

First things first, you check out your blog for comments, etc. while you sip on your first cup of steaming coffee. Then you organize your cotton balls. WHAT?! That’s right, I said organize your cotton balls.  Let me explain.

I have this huge bag of cotton balls that usually sits on my bathroom counter.  I have tried putting them away but more often than not, I find that they just sit there since I use them to take off my makeup, put on some toner, etc.

Then I saw this vase sitting on the dining room table – just waiting to be put away.Instant inspiration. Why hadn’t I thought of it sooner?!

I began to fill the vase with cotton balls. Not only did it look very pretty but that also meant no more bag on the counter top. Win-win.

And here is how it looks in my bathroom. Pretty cute right?

Then I saw a walrus. That’s right, I said I saw a walrus – stay with me people. 😉

Where was I…..oh yeah, BAMO! Another bolt of inspiration.  This little guy would look cute perched upon a stack of books in the hallway upstairs. So grabbing my camera, books, oh and my walrus – I flew up stairs.

And voila.  I don’t know if this is where he’ll stay but it is as good a place as any for right now. It is much better than having him sit in a box in the dining room.

What do you guys think? Do you like my early morning puttering or should I pretend I was sleep walking and quickly take these down. 😉

Oh, did I mention that IT’S FRRRRRIDAY!!! Stay tuned for some Friday giggles to get  us prepped for the weekend.
